- Step into the shoes of a Gerneral Practitioner (GP). Learn how to identify, test and treat common problems in a simulated environment
Day 3: Cardiology
- Cardiology heart structure and function
- Become an emergency medicine specialist - the workings of heart cells and electrical impulse (ECG)
- Understand common vascular pathologies and their impact on cardiological function
- Learn how to perform a vascular examination - check signs and symptoms that can inform you of the state of a patients vascular (blood flow) system.
Day 4: Neurology
- Immerse yourself in the world of Neurology. Learn about the brain, its structure and function
- The science of infections and the immune defence system
- Neurological examinations practical experience
- Providing lifestyle advice to improve a patient's quality of life, and related symptoms
Day 5: Surgery
- Introduction to Surgery - learn the ins and outs of the processes involved in preparing patients for surgery, the operation process and post op
- Surgical Pathologies: introduction to basic anatomy, and case study on common pathologies.
- Surgery simulation with UK-based surgeon.
- Networking session with NHS surgeon(s)
Day 6: Medical Ethics
- Introduction to medical ethics
- The Pillars of medical ethics
- Medical ethics debate - compile a convincing argument over contentious medical ethics questions
Day 7: Your University Application
- Components of a strong university application
- Building a strong 'supercurricular' profile for your application.
- Medical school interview simulations
- UCAS application process
